Curriculum

TEMIS follows the IEA curriculum. The IEA curriculum is based on an outcomes based approach to teaching. It identifies eight main curriculum areas:
Early Childhood, English Language, Mathematics, Society & Environment, Science, Technology, The Arts, Physical Education Health and Personal Development.

In addition to the main curriculum areas, TEMIS implements a LOTE (Language Other Than English) curriculum and a Religious Instruction and Values programme.

English is taught following a balanced literacy programme, involving shared, guided and independent reading and writing. This ensures that reading and writing behaviours are modelled and supported for students before they are asked to perform them independently.

Teaching of Mathematics aims to enable students to be mathematically literate, able to interpret data, reason and apply their operational skills.

There is a strong focus on mental methods and informal recording, before students are exposed to more traditional formal algorithms.
