Grade 7/8 Curriculum

The curriculum is broken up into the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, SOSE, French, Music, Art, Design and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Library Skills and Personal Development/Health/Physical Education.

Each subject is coordinated by a specialist teacher with a two year cycle in place for covering the course. Students are grouped by ability or grade, depending on the subject.

Course Overviews

Each subject has a course overview for the semester which is handed to the students at the start of each semester. This overview includes content, assessment tasks, weighting of the tasks for the semester and the due date for each task.

Assessment

Students in Grade 7 & 8 students are assessed in a range of ways: bookwork, assignments, practical tasks, oral presentations, end of unit tests and end of year exams.Students are also given a grade for effort.

Students are entered in the International Schools Assessment (ISA) in October.

Homework

Each student is given a Daily Planner to record their homework. Organisation of assessment tasks and nightly homework is essential. Students can choose to stay for additional study time using the 7/8 classrooms, computer lab or library during lunch times.

Students are expected to spend 90 minutes on homework each evening; some of which will be set online activities along with written and reading assignments.
