During our staff development day in Week 2, teachers worked with Marcus Cherrill, a trainer from Dragonfly Learning. It was an engaging day, with a focus on high challenge, high impact activities. A consistent theme was making the children work harder than the adults, encouraging them to think and ask questions. There were lots of great discussions, and ideas for teachers to incorporate into their current planning.
Marcus then worked with our team leaders and subject leaders on Wednesday and Thursday of Week 2, considering the difference between leading and managing. They reflected upon how they can best share their skills and experience with their teams.
Marcus also ran a course for our CAs and LAs. The focus was on developing oral skills with our children, as well as a toolbox of tips to help support children and teachers in the classroom.
